In the early Tang Dynasty, Hanjiang Pass General Fan Hong was on the battlefield fighting against the Tang army. Fan Lihua, daughter of Fan Hong, attempted to persuade her father to surrender, but was rebuked instead. Later, Fan Lihua submitted Hanjiang Pass to Tang, and married Xue Dingshan, which led to the classic stories like Three Visits to Fan Lihua.
