Embracing the summertime with zeal and hope, Chengdu Museum launched another exhibition under the theme brand "Colorful Civilizations" of temporary exhibition series — The World Blooming under Pencils: A Special Exhibition of Animation Key Frames, which opened free to the public on May 17, 2022. With precious celluloid nitrate and other animation key frames selected from 248 classic animation works from China, Japan and the United States, including Havoc in Heaven, Lotus Lantern, Ne Zha, Mickey Mouse, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Dragon Ball, and One Piece, the exhibition reveals the development path of animation since the 20th century against a backdrop of globalization. It allows visitors to appreciate animation keyframes created by masters closely and observe the production process of celluloid nitrate, look back on the fascinating storyline and humanistic touch of those iconic works, and explore how artists from different countries influenced each other on their endeavoring journey for art improvement.
In this summer full of zeal and hope, Chengdu Museum will pay tribute to the century-old Chinese animation with exhibitions, to the vitality and artistic innovation of classic animations, and to the city and creation with Chengdu animations. We will show you how a fantasy world is created with a pencil, adding luster to the city's modern cultural landscape.
